This is Jake.
Jake is a well-broke Appaloosa gelding born in 1990.
Jake is the kind of horse one can leave in the pasture all winter, and safely ride again in spring without hours of remedial training. He's a sure horse for a nice ride.
Unfortunately, Jake developed cancer in his right eye. It was removed from the socket in it's entirety to hopefully prevent the spread.
Jake had the operation in August 2011, he is no longer in discomfort and gained weight admirably.
He'd learned to live without sight in that eye for we don't know how long, so the absence of it doesn't faze him a bit.
Jake is an excellent well-broke horse, he'll be great for trail rides. He's also very good with children, however, he's got some get-up-and-go energy, so he needs a rider who has the experience to keep his energy focused.
He was an owner relinquishment in 2011 due to inability to care for him properly. Once we put some weight back on Jake he became as gorgeous as ever.
