Jax is a 13.3 Sorrel Quarter Horse gelding born in 2011. He may yet grow taller.
He came to us as a stallion from the Hutchinson auction in January 2013.
Jax has had some round pen training but has not been saddled at this time [July 2013].
On March 3, 2018 he was found, once again, at the Hutch Auction for sale.
He was purchased from a kill buyer out of state. Luckily, friends of HITVERAS happened to be at the auction and alerted us to his sale.
This is one important reason why we brand our horses!
The foster parents who started him under saddle stated he was very broke last they had worked with him.
They misunderstood and thought they would be able to start him and adopt him out for us, but failed to get a contract with the new adopter. Therefore, that adopter did not know he could not be sold.
We had to purchase him back from the kill buyer for $775, a hundred dollars more than he sold for at the auction only moments before!
In the arena at auction it was apparent he is very broke. Reportedly, he has worked extensively at a cattle feed lot. He is once again ready for his forever home, somewhere where he has a job to do!
He now stands 15 hands high and is 850 pounds. He currently has shoes all around, but we will probably naturally trim him once he is ready for his next farrier appointment.
He remains easy to catch, groom and has amazing ground manners.
